Nur Özel is a artist who specializes in ceramics and glass. She pursued her studies in Ceramics and Glass at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul, Turkey. During her time there, she had the opportunity to expand her knowledge and skills by participating in glass classes not only in Turkey but also in Czechia and the USA.
Throughout her art journey, Nur had the privilege of working and assisting various esteemed artists in the field such as Janusz Pozniak, Ondrej Novotny, Tim Shaw, Gabe Feenan, Karen Willenbrink & Jason Johnsen, Mattia Salvadore, Agah Barış Can Aksakal, Gülin Algül and Pheobe Cummings . These experiences enriched her understanding of the art form and allowed her to learn from established professionals.
Drawing from her background in ceramics, Nur Özel's artistic glass creations often involve blown forms connected with hot sculpting techniques. She also explores the realm of sound sculptures, showcasing her versatility and passion for music. Her works in both materials search for the duality of life and two sides of the mind.
Following her graduation, Nur embarked on a freelance career as a glassblowing production assistant, collaborating with various brands and artists.
Currently, she teaches pottery, glass blowing and flamework, works and creates in her own art studio located in Istanbul, Turkey.
